About this event

For GPs, Nurses, Mental Health Services Clinicians , Medical Officers and other practitioners working in the sexual health and mental health settings.

In partnership with the South Australian Office of the Chief Psychiatrist and Adelaide PHN, this workshops is the second in a series of workshops on key mental health topics.

Join our facilitators in the discussion to unravel the challenges faced by the gender diverse community and identify ways that healthcare teams can delivery gender affirming healthcare.

Our presenters will also be joined by lived experience persons who will be sharing their personal experiences and professional experiences in working with people with mental health difficulties from the gender diverse community.

  • Dr Georgie Swift, Gender Diversity Psychiatrist, CAMHS and WCHN
  • Dr Lane Hinchcliffe, General Practitioner with special interest in mental and sexual health
  • Dr Ana McCarthy, Endocrinologist, Clinical lead for the Endocrinology/Transgender Health Clinic at Modbury Hospital

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand barriers of care for people with gender diversity.
  • Outline team-based approaches to care for a person who is gender diverse.
  • Identify strategies to support a gender diverse person and their families across a life span (initial conversation, available referral pathways, resources).
  • Identify mental health concerns in a gender diverse community.

Attendance options:

  • In person - for those participants attending the workshop in person, the workshop will be held at ANMF located at 191 Torrens Rd, Ridleyton SA. Registrations and dinner start at 6:00PM, education session commences promptly at 6:30PM.
  • Online - for those participants attending online, this workshop commences promptly at 6:30PM.

This workshop is FREE to attend and a light dinner will be provided for those attending in person.

CPD information:

All participants will receive a Statement of Attendance following the session.

This workshop is pending accreditation with RACGP and ACRRM. RACGP and ACRRM members will have their CPD hours allocated following the session.
